What is Online Texas Hold’em?🤷‍♀️

The card game, Texas Hold’em, is the world’s most popular form of poker. That being said, the outcome of any given Hold’em game is very much dependant on your opponents’ choice to bet or call. While trying to navigate their way through opponents’ bluff, players must try to combine their ‘hole’ cards with community cards to produce the best hand at the table.

Online Texas Hold’em Casinos reign superior over land-based Hold’em casinos as a result of their fast-paced gameplay, easy accessibility and table availability. Online players reap the benefits of regular bonuses and variety. As for the beginners, virtual tables are far less intimidating so aspiring poker fans can build their skills without the added pressure.

FAQ 🙋‍♀️

Frequently asked questions about Texas Hold'em

👥 How many players are required for Texas Hold’em?

The game requires a minimum of 2 players and is generally played with 2-10 people per table. Check out our ‘Online Texas Hold’em | The Rules of Gameplay‘ section for more information.

🤷‍♀️ How many decks of cards are used?

A single deck of 52 cards is used for Texas Hold’em. Have a look at our ‘The Official Poker Hands‘ section for more information.

⏲ Is Online Texas Hold’em quicker than land-based games?

Online poker is typically much faster than land-based poker games. You can expect to play 70-100 hands at a 6-player table and 60-80 hands at a full table in an hour. An average hand of online poker takes less than a minute to complete.

👋 What is the best starting hand in Texas Hold’em?

A pair of Aces is considered the best starting hand. With each player starting with 2 cards, the highest-scoring double is the safest, most promising starting hand you can get. For more information about the best Hold’em hands, check out our ‘The Official Poker Hands‘ section.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 How many players can play Texas Hold’em at once?

Technically, Texas Hold’em can be played by up to 22 players at a single table. The deck will be split up into 44 player cards, 3 burn cards and 5 community cards.

🤔 What is a burn card?

A burn card is a playing card on the top of a deck, that is discarded before any cards are dealt from the deck. This is a common poker method used to prevent cheating. Check out our ‘The Rules of Gameplay‘ section for more information.

🔥 When are cards ‘burned’ in Texas Hold’em?

During Live Texas Hold’em Games, you will see the dealer burn a card before dealing the flop, turn and river.

😠 What's the difference between tight and loose aggressive styles?

A tight-aggressive player is generally more particular about acting in the pre-flop, but when they do act, they are confident in their hand and play more aggressively by betting and raising. These players are generally more successful as far as bluffing goes. A loose-aggressive player will also be aggressive in the way that they raise, but they will play a much wider range of hands. “Tight” indicates that the player usually only plays what they consider to be premium hands. Whereas “loose” indicates that they will play a much wider range of hands. Check out our ‘Mastering the Perfect Hold’em Strategies‘ section for more information.

Sometimes You Win, Sometimes You Learn💡

Poker is more than a card game as it encourages personal growth. The roller coaster of emotions experienced in a single hand of Hold’em will challenge one’s mental and emotional endurance. We’re shedding light on the underrated benefits that Texas Hold’em may play in one’s personal life:

Texas Hold’em | The Official Poker Hands

Before we get down to the rules of Hold‘em gameplay, played with a single deck of cards,  here is a breakdown of the Official Poker Hands in order of highest to lowest ranking:

  1. Royal Flush – A royal flush is a top-tier straight flush, with only one possible combination: A-K-Q-J-10.
  2. Straight Flush – A straight flush is a five-card sequence belonging to the same suit. For example, 4-5-6-7-8 of hearts.
  3. Four of a Kind – This hand combines four cards of the same value, each belonging to a different suit. For example, A-A-A-A.
  4. Full House – A full house combines a set of three cards of the same value with a pair of cards of another value. For example, 10-10-10-8-8.
  5. Flush – A flush combines any five cards of the same suits. For example, J-10-4-7-2 of diamonds.
  6. Straight – A straight combines five cards of sequential value, regardless of suit. For example, 6-7-8-9-10 of mixed suits.
  7. Three of a kind – This is a combination of three cards of identical value. For example, 7-7-7.
  8. Two Pairs – This combines two cards of one value with another 2 cards of one value. For example, J-J-Q-Q.

Online Texas Hold’em | The Rules of Gameplay📝

With easy-to-learn and hard-to-master gameplay, Hold’em is the world’s most popular of all poker variations! Let’s get down to the rules of gameplay so that you can start working on your master strategy.

  1. Players are each dealt two cards face down. These are called your ‘hole’ cards. The remaining deck is placed in front of the dealer. These cards will be burned and placed as community cards as the game continues.
  2. The first round of betting commences. You will have the choice to bet, call or fold. This round is known as the ‘pre-flop’. The concept of this pre-flop round is for you to decide whether you want to continue based on how likely you are to deliver a winning hand.
  3. The first player to the left of the dealer, A.K.A. The Small Blind may make a ‘small bet’ if they’d like to continue due to their ‘early position’ disadvantage. (The positions are explained later in this article). Should the second player, wish to continue they will raise. The last person to act in the pre-flop is known as The Big Blind. The Big Blind is equivalent to the minimum bet.
  4. Once the pre-flop round is over, three community cards are placed face-up in the middle of the table. These three community cards are referred to as ‘the flop’.
  5. Once the flop has been produced, another round of betting commences, followed by the placement of the fourth community card – referred to as ‘the turn’.
  6. Another round of betting takes place, followed by the placement of the last community card – referred to as ‘the river’.
  7. Your best Texas Hold’em hand is formed.

There are two possible ways that the game can end:

  1. All remaining players turn over their hole cards and the player with the best hand wins. This is referred to as a ‘showdown
  2. Someone places a bet high enough that all other opponents choose to fold before the end. Interestingly, this is the most popular way for Hold’em Games to end! Meaning that you can win a Hold’em Casino game even if you do not have the best hand at the table!

Texas Hold’em Casino | The Do’s and Don’ts✅

We’ve compiled a list of some of the unwritten ‘rules’ you are going to want to brush up on before making your high-stake table debut:

DO ensure that you understand the importance of position

DON’T play ‘undeserving’ hands pre-flop

DO play with conviction

Don’t underestimate the power of building experience

Mastering the Perfect Hold’em Strategies😎

The key to mastering your strategy is finding a strategy that feels natural to you, without being completely predictable. The main difference between online and land-based Texas Hold’em casinos are the different strategic approaches. For example, land-based strategies often rely heavily on opponent profiling. Profiling is the analysis of your opponents’ facial expressions, energy, and betting tendencies. While online strategies focus on the analysis of betting tendencies exclusively.

If your hand isn’t good enough to raise, it’s almost certainly not good enough for a call either.” That being said, ‘calling’ may be more advantageous at a particular point in the game. If you’re not sure whether calling or raising is right for your hand, here is a list of reasons why players choose to call or raise a bet:

Raising

Calling

Although more players at the table mean that the pot will be bigger – the loss might be too. It’s better to drive out as many opponents as possible and take many smaller pots. Winning consistently is better than winning big and losing bigger.

For this to work, players must keep their gameplay tight in the pre-flop and pay close attention to any loose-aggressive play habits of their opponents. If a pattern of bluff is observed going into the next round, reciprocating the opponents’ style could force them to fold their insignificant hands. This strategy is called Narrowing the field.

Texas Hold’em Variations🃏

The most common variations of this respected card game are no-limit, pot and limit Hold’em. You know the basic rules of the game, now let’s talk about what makes these best-of-the-best poker games different.

No-Limit Hold’em: This game form allows players to bet or raise with no limits other than the size of the stack of chips in front of them. There is a minimum raise bet which is usually equivalent to the big blind or raise value of the previous bet.

Limit Hold’em: Before the game starts, the bet sizes are discussed and agreed upon by all at the table. In the first two betting rounds of this four-round betting game, all bets are half the size of the bets in the last two rounds.

Pot Hold’em: Pot size determines the size of betting or raising. This is an intermediate variant for those who aren’t ready to commit to high-stake games such as No-Limit Texas Hold’em.

Irresistible Texas Hold’em Casino Bonuses🤑

The best part about Online Hold’em is the impressive welcome bonuses for new players in the form of cashback, with most casinos offering a 100% deposit match up to a certain value.

For instance, if the casino is offering a 100% match bonus up to €1000, you will receive an additional €1000 (should you decide to deposit €1000 or more) resulting in a bankroll of €2000. Similarly, if you decided to deposit €200, an additional €200 would be added to your bankroll and you’d have €400 to play with.

Welcome bonuses are great, we agree! But finding a casino that offers various Loyalty Clubs that reward you regularly for your wagers, increasing the value of your rewards the more you play is what we consider the best bonus.
